So yesterday was veterans day and I thought about you and how you stood so tall for our country and I thank you and your family for the sacrifice that you took so that my family can still have their freedom. Not to many days go by that I don't think of you It seems as though I just saw you the other day and we were talking about old times and updating each other of our lives since we last talked. But seeing you that day didn't seem like it had been years since we last talked it only seemed as though yesterday we were playing in your back yard and we were kids. Such good times I can remember being with you and your family. As you know Ambers expecting and im so excited for your family how lucky can you be to be expecting two new additions to your family in one year. I know you were behind this.
I visit you everytime I go to earleville and I talk to you and I sometimes think that you answer me. But I can be anywhere and I talk to you and when Im done telling you things this calmness comes over me and makes me feel as though you are helping me. But I miss you so much and it makes me sad that we didn't stay as close friends as we were growing up.
I can remember the trips in the back of the van and do you remember the time when we were in the basement and amber stepped on the glass that my sister dropped on the floor. When we would go swimming at georgetown pool. Remember the fort it was you ryan and me. And when I think of those times I just smile. If I could turn back the time I would want to stay when we were all playing and having a good time.
Since your mom has given me the bracelet that she got made I haven't taken it off. I believe its going to fall apart soon. But I will always honor you and never forget all the things we have shared growing up. I often tell my son how much fun I had as a kid. And tell him about this brave boy that I grew up with and all the things we did. Keep looking after me cause I know your with me....
And when it is my time save me a spot at the bar so I can salute you for believing in what not a lot of people believe in "Our Country" and standing tall when we need to.

I had an interview with John King State of the Union/CNN this week and it aired tonight. I can't tell my story without you being a part of it. So everytime I say I was wouned I talk about the Great Soldier that died next to me and how you're with me everyday....

One year two years no day has gone by that you are not in my heart. Today only hurts a little more. We honored you my sweet boy. Your sister and I flew to Ft. Lewis to be with all your "Brothers-In-Arms". Your name is now written on a solid rock of marble where you will be forever remembered. You are loved and respected and honored more than you ever knew. You left a mark on this world that will never be forgotten. We were surrounded by love and it was because of you that we are so loved. I see in their eyes that you will never be forgotten. I miss you more than any word could ever say and I love you more each day. I still as "why" but you were right "only God knows why". Our family has grown so much because of you and we will always love your brothers as our own sons. Please wrap your arms around them all my son as you brothers are ready to depart again to that God forsaken country for another tour. I know you will keep them safe and watch out for them. Let them know that you are there watching over them please let them know that you love them and that you do not blame any of them for what happened. They need your guidance and your love so. I felt you with me in Washington and I know that it was your guidance and strenght that got me through. Your courage gives me the strenght to go on as many days I no longer want to. I talk to you every day and I wear your beautiful face around my neck to keep you close to my heart. I will never forgive myself for not being there when you needed me the most but I hope that you will be able to forgive me. I can hear your laughter and see your smile in everything I do and I would give myself to hear you say one more time "I love you Momma".
Please put your wings around us my son for we need your courage and strenght to make another day. If I could trade myself for you I would have you back where you belong in a minute. Hey there man! Hope they are treating you good up there! I know you are having a blast! I think about you all the time.. No matter where i am. I mean here lately cause the weather is nice i will go out at nite and talk to about all kinds of things and just sometimes i believe i can hear you. Some how once i have said whats on my mind i have this calmness come over me... I was thinking about the other day when your mom used to watch my sister and I about the times we would go and play in our fort. Thats was ages ago but still very fresh in my mind. I remember the many times we would play basketball or just hanging out. I miss you very much, and sad that we lost touch. Today I met Jodi, I'm actually teaching her how to train Madi. :) I noticed she was wearing a bracelet and it had some engravings on it but I was never able to read it completely. I came to find out about you through the memorial she has displayed on her truck. She spoke of you briefly and I could see the pride and love in her eyes.
I am amazed by this woman, who says she gets up at 4:30am to go to the gym, then goes to college, THEN .. goes to her son's school and volunteers each day .. THEN .. well, the list goes on and on. I know you must be watching over her and your son, feeling so proud of what she is accomplishing. Having only met her for the first time today, she has my utmost respect for what she is accomplishing. She is so happy, so friendly and so full of life. I feel lucky to have met her today and I look forward to continuing to get to know her. Through her, I may get to know a bit about you as well, at least I hope to be so lucky to find out more about you.
Thank you for your commitment to bettering our country and keeping it safe. Your hard work, bravery and dedication does not go unnoticed.
